Welcome from Horizons Chief Executive

It’s great to see the Whanganui Summer Programme will be back in 2010, starting the year with a busy and diverse range of accessible trips, talks and walks that showcase our region.

Horizons Regional Council is delighted to be lead sponsor for the 2010 programme and to be directly involved in several events. We welcome opportunities like this to work with volunteers and other organisations who are passionate and knowledgeable about our environment to introduce people to our region’s wonderful wildlife and natural habitats, along with its history and culture.

This 2010 programme offers a fantastic choice of activities for all age-groups and levels of fitness. We’re pleased that Horizons staff will be directly involved in events such as the walk on the Manawatu Gorge track, where we have been working in a very successful restoration partnership, the ever-popular Coast to Coast bus trip, and a visit to a farm that showcases innovative approaches to sustainable hill country land use.

Please take this opportunity to get out and explore your region as part of the well-run and affordable Whanganui Summer Programme.

Michael McCartney
Chief Executive
